About Us

The Lioness Project is a non-profit organization that helps women rebuild a life after abuse. The model for The Lioness Project was inspired by the book Awaken The Lioness by Lisa Bevere. A lioness is a beautiful and powerful creature. She moves with purpose. She is a good mother, not only caring for her young, but never endangering the lives of another’s cub. She works with other lionesses to hunt to provide for the pack. She draws strength from others, and provides strength and nurturing to her sisters when they are in need. Like a lioness, a women is a powerful creature of beauty. When she focuses on her strengths and surrounds herself with those who support her in her quest to thrive, she is unstoppable.

The Lioness Project is a resource for women and children who have experienced homeless after domestic abuse. We believe that a support system is necessary to heal after experiencing the trauma of abuse and homelessness. We provide education around healthy relationships and understanding abuse and the effects. We believe that while forgiveness does not always lend to reconciliation, it is necessary to grow after abuse. We understand the spiritual, emotional, and economic aspects of building a life after abuse.
